BIA General Assistance
Participation in Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance is one of the additional Tribal program routes recognized for Lifeline.
Tribal TANF
Tribally-Administered Temporary Assistance for Needy Families can establish program-based Lifeline eligibility for qualifying consumers.
Tribal Head Start
Tribal Head Start is a Lifeline qualification route only for households that already meet the applicable Head Start income standard.
FDPIR
Participation in the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations can also establish a Tribal Lifeline qualification route.

The location check is only one part of eligibility
A positive Tribal lands location check can support the enhanced-benefit process, but the household must still meet Lifeline eligibility rules and complete the required application process.
Enhanced Tribal support is tied to a qualifying residential location.
Some applications can require additional location information when an address cannot be validated automatically.
Location alone does not establish the household’s Lifeline qualification.
An approved household still needs an appropriate participating phone or internet provider.
Does Tribal Lifeline include a free government tablet?

Link Up is separate from the monthly enhanced benefit. For qualifying Tribal Lifeline subscribers, it can provide up to $100 off the initial setup charge for voice service at the subscriber’s primary residence when the participating provider meets the applicable program requirements.
Link Up is not a $100 tablet credit and should not be described as money for purchasing a free tablet.

Identify your eligibility route

Check the current income threshold when needed

Verify the provider separately
